sugar maple wood

Looking to experiment with sugar maple wood. Has anyone had any experience with it? Is it the same as maple wood? I saw some on line and was cosidering a purchase.

If you get any, let us know how you like it. I have some maple from BBQs Galore and I tried it recently for the first time on some salmon. It was great. I liked it better than alder.[p]TNW

jake42, I think sugar maple is the tastiest of all maples. Get it burning good and clean and I think you'll find the smoke mild and sweet.[p]have fun!

ive taken sap from different types of maple and couldnt tell the difference when made to syrup.im thinking what might make one sweeter than the other is if it were cut down during the sapping season. i have cooked over maple fires but havent tried it in a smoker. it would be good to know so post your results if you purchase it

Sugar Maple is very good on Pork. It will turn the meat a nice redish color.
It is a very fragerant smoke also.[p]Hope This Helps,
