OT - Bourbon find! Four Roses 125th Anniversary Limited Edition

Went to my local wine and spirits shop over the weekend and bought a bottle of whiskey. While I was there I asked whether they would be carrying any of the Four Roses Limited Edition releases this year. They said they would. I was with my brother, who doesn't know too much about bourbon, so I explained that the Four Roses Limited Editions are incredibly sought after and last year the Limited Edition was named North American Whiskey of the Year by Whisky Advocate. The store owner overheard me and interjected with, "Would you like last year's?" I was caught off guard because those bottles are nearly as difficult to find as Pappy at this point. I nodded emphatically. He said to hang on a minute, then he goes into the storage room and emerges with a bottle. I bought it for sticker price. What an amazing weekend!

Nice score! What is the sticker price on this bottle?

Which came first the chicken or the egg?  I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

Thanks!  Sticker is $90.  It came out just shy of $100 after tax.  As of last month, there was a store nearby selling the bottle for $500.  Shockingly enough, after I got this one I checked the listing from that other store and they've sold the bottle.  Now, I think it's pretty much all gone apart from after-market avenues.

Yeah, it was incredible!  The guy basically told me he keeps all the really good bottles in the back and he won't sell them to anyone unless he feels that they are genuinely interested in whiskey and aren't buying to flip or to have it as a status thing.  I had been talking a lot with my brother about different whiskies and distilleries, and I guess he got the sense that I was a genuine whiskey fan, so he gave it to me.  I'll say this: that guy earned my business for life.  From here on out, I'm going to that store to purchase every bottle.

What a score! I love the FR single batch so I bet the 125th is killer!

Great find. I like the everyday blend, so I can imagine how good the 125th edition is. And, someone said it first, but talk about drinking on this forum is far from "Off Topic".

I was just introduced to Four Roses earlier this year. Very nice whiskey. I will be partaking in more I'm sure. Did you hear if they were going to offer a limited edition for this year

The 2014 version is supposed to be released mid-June. Now would be a good time to butter up the consultant at your local liquor store.
