Woody54,
i've enjoyed cooking since i was 11 years old, living for 3 months in a hotel in belgium (dad was in the army, and we had to live in the hotel all that time while waiting for quarters). ..it was a quirky old hotel, and to get to my room i had to literally go through the kitchen. . .i became 'freinds' with all the staff and during the 3 months i went through the entire menu. ...i always liked hlping mom in the kitchen. . . .and i've been the primary cook in my house all through my marriage (wife used to work in retail so i did most of the dinner prep). ...[p]having said all that, since getting the egg, i have certainly become more serious and adventuresome with my cooking. . .more than just grilling or smoking, i really like converting indoor recipes to the egg. . ..particularly italian and french provincial dishes. ...i've said this before, but most italian and french recipes originated back in a time when all they used to cook was wood and/or coal burning stoves/ovens. . . so by doing these recipes in the egg, you are probably a lot closer to the original flavors than by following the recipes in your kitchen. . ..[p]so, while it was always a hobby, its a lot more so now. .. .

Woody54,
Most definitely "after" getting the BGE.......

Morning Woody54:[p]Have always enjoyed cooking and at various times in the past 30+ years of marriage did most of it (depending on the work situation). However, that being said, my cooking "hobby" has definitely been much more used since getting my first egg in January 2002.[p]Have a GREAT day!

Woody54, I wish that I could fish as much as I get to cook. But, since I can't, cooking is my most "practiced hobby".

Woody54,
I agree with Borders. I have always loved to cook. When I was 6, Santa brought me a frying pan and tongs.
After I was introduced to the egg is when it went to the next level.

Kayaking and biking are big on my hobby list, but egging is catching up! -
Woody54, Like many others I've always felt at home in the kitchen, and do most of the cooking. Grilling on the gasser was my favorite though, that is until last June, when the Egg came to our house. Now it's not only a hobby, but an obsession, bumping golf further down on the list.

Woody54,[p]Before. But, the food wasn't as good... :-)

Woody54,[p]Definately Before.
I remember one time cooking breakfast for my grand parents. I was cooking ham and cheese omelettes. While I was flashing my knife skills on the Ham, my grand father said to my grandmother (paraphrasing) look at that kid with his knife, he is faster then Chef Tell (t.v. food celebrity from the 70's). I think I was 8 or 9.[p]E

Woody54,
I'm kind of like Max in this regard. I was alwyas into cooking from the time I was a little kid. By the time I reached 10th grade we were on a cooking rotation around my house.[p]It was during my Senior year in HS when I got my first egg. I always cooked as a hobby, or more because that is just what you did. If you wanted food to taste good, you made it yourself.[p]The Egg has pretty much been there throughout, well it came on scene as soon as I could work to save up enough cash to buy one anyway.

Woody54,
I guess I have always liked cooking or experimenting with food. My first experience was at the age of 5. My sister 12 at the time, was supposed to look after me.My mom worked at night and dad during the day. I got hungry. She was not watching me and I decided to boil some eggs to make egg salad. I could't reach the top of the stove to remove the boiling water so I got on a chair. I turned the water over onto my upper leg. I only had 2nd degree burns thank the Lord. I never got those sandwitches. lol
Ever since, I have been in love with the art of cooking.
Other than cooking, I play a lot of golf, ride my Harley-Davidson all around the country.Take my boat out on the lake in the summer. [p]Jerry
