Does any one have any info or thoughts on using plastic wrap? At the local BBQ place I noticed that when they bring out any meat it is wrapped in plastic wrap and still hot. I have used foil. is there something I should know? does any one use it instead of foil?

I've seen that at Hard Eights.. Even before I became an egg owner/BBQ aware I wondered about that.Lubbock, TXLarge BGE

Wow only one responce. not much discussion on this topic. I thought this was one of these things where half uses it and half does not.

I use foil. I try to keep plastic away from my food as much a possible.Large and Small BGECentral, IL

I use foil too. Plastic does not retain heat, I am afraid it will melt, and it is harder to apply.XL BGE; Medium BGE; L BGE

With plastic, I'd worry if i lost temperature control for a bit, that I'd be dripping plastic into my entreeDoug/Jaime in Tucker, GA Could almost walk to BGE Mothership LBGE

It would retain moisture better. There are plastic wraps that can take high heat.Dave - Austin, TX

You sure love you some old posts.
I’ve seen Dickey’s BBQ chain hold their cooked meat in plastic wrap on catering gigs, they pull it out of an electric warmer, unwrap and slice, rewrap and put it back. I would guess they’re holding 150ish, but I really don’t know. -
I use plastic wrap as little as possible, as to often it frustrates me. Food storage is in glass Pyrex, food saver, or zip locks. Food holding is in AF.
Protein that has been prepped gets wrapped in plastic if going into the fridge overnight - that's about all I use it for myself.

I know it's an old post, but foil is expensive, plastic wrap cheap. Answered.

plastic wrap ( saran wrap ) comes off the line @ 400° , below that its ok . except its plastic . Sticky Fingers wraps all of their ribs .

I'm curious if wrapped tight you get less moisture loss than foil. I also see most local BBQ joints pull whole cuts out of the warming drawers wrapped in plastic and not foil.South of Nashville - BGE XL - Alfresco 42" ALXE - Alfresco Versa Burner - Sunbeam Microwave
