Hairline crack on outside of egg...

I had to replace the bands on top and bottom of an egg I've had for many years... While doing that, I noticed a small hairline crack down the outside. It's all the way from top to bottom but not a big enough crack that shows on the inside. I just don't want it to get worse. Anything to worry about? Suggestions on how to fix if needed? Thanks in advance.

I'd make a claim right away. Since I don't know where you live so that means I don't know your seasonal temperature swings let alone rainfall, but with the cracks you described you WILL be having a problem. Assuming you are the original owner then you have already paid for the warranty. If your dealer doesn't help or tries to charge you then come back here for more help.Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time

Definitely get it replaced under warranty. Mine cracked and was replaced under warranty. When I loosened the bands it cracked wide open.Mark Annville, PA

Mine recently had a crack similar to what you describe. When I cleaned out the egg and took everything apart to get a better look, I also saw the crack on the bottom of the egg on the inside (the crack on the side of the egg was not visible inside). I called my dealer and he got me a new base. When it was installed, we realized that the new base was about an inch smaller in circumference. The bottom band would not fully tighten - the ends actually touched.
I contacted BGE and they said the new base was also defective and sent another to my dealer. Haven't had a chance to get it yet, but I hope this one is correct.

Just replaced my base under warranty. Ended up with a puddle under it after a low-n-slow. That got me looking around and I discovered the crack when I vacuumed out the bottom. My crack didn't go from the lower vent like many do. Mine took 3 weeks but I have a second egg so we got by just fine.
