Woo with cast iron grate

I recently purchased a Woo to raise the grid and discovered the CI grate would not fit, only the stainless steel one. I looked it over and had the tabs at each end cut off and did a little adjustment on the handles with a rubber mallet. Now she sits nice and high and slides on and off with the grate lifter.

I did the exact same thing last weekend with a 90 degree grinder and a zizz wheel. Fits loke it was made for it.

I couldn't make it work so I just chopped the ends. Worked but doesnt look as good as yours

Just bought a new cast iron grate. Love it!! New challenge ... What is the best tool for lifting the grate? All suggestions appreciated.

@MrBill A gridlifter by LawnRanger. Now Mike is going to tell you it is not made for that but before I got rid of my CI's I always used it.

Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Just given a Mini to add to the herd.
