I'm going to make beef jerky. Can the egg maintain 175 degrees f on its own?

ive kept temps between 145 and 175 for several hours doing jerkey. used small preburnt lump and just about an inch and a half deep on the grate. its doable
fukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it -
I think to keep it that low you will need a pit controller's help. I can maintain 200 - 225 with relative ease but never been able to stay under 200 with the fire going out.

That would have a lot to do with the ambient temp. I've used a stainless steel colander with four or five well lit briquettes and wood chunks on top.
