My gateway grill to egging (reserved from Eggfest this coming June) arrived yesterday. I know nothing and the book isn't really helpful because it deals with the full size version. Any helpers around?

Might be easy to go to YouTube for the visuals. I saw some Jr videos on the web a while ago.
Do you need to put it together as well or just get off to cooking?Seattle, WA -

It comes put together just take the cardboard inserts out and put the black cast iron circle with holes over the bottom hole. Make sure the hole in the bottom below the black cast iron circle is facing the bottom vent of the outter shell for air flow. You don't have to use the triangle grid raiser for every cook to sear steaks just take that triangle out and let your grate sit on the ceramic ring. For most cooks you will want to use the triangle grid raiser to get some distance so you don't burn everything. Also use the triangle with the stone in it for indirect like ribs, shoulders etc. I made 2 seperate racks of ribs on mine today just cut the rack in half and did the halves side by side. I over cooked the first rack they fell off the bone but the second rack may have been the best ribs I have ever made. I fired it up around 9 am and it burned until I shut it down around 7. I am loving the KJ its so easy to move around with the stand with handles not to mention the 15 pounds less weight. It also comes to temp much faster than my small egg did. If the mini max doesn't have some sort of portable stand with handles I'm sticking with the KJ.

The principles are the same, large, small K.J. or Egg. They all have their nuances. Just have a go at it. Pretty tough to ruin anything. The worst it can ever be is wrong.Hood Stars, Wrist Crowns and Obsession Dobs!
