    I have gotten my XL to hold at 240 for about 30 hours or so just as an experiment after I had finished my cooking.

    21 hours for me. Plenty of lump leftover but haven't needed to go longer than that. I'd recommend the Angle L brackets from ceramicgrillworks over the reducing ring. I love them. They allow me to divide the firebox for direct and indirect. It also allows me to use less lump because I pile it to one side for a small weeknight cook.
