So for the first time I saw a tri tip steak at our local grocer but it was 17 bucks and weighed 1.78 kg.It was angus beef and maybe that's why it is so $$$.
What's the avg price on these and are they worth it? Having a 8 dollar prime rib instead and admiring the moon and stars what a beautie of a night out:)

Don't know if it were a Tri-Tip. Tri-tips' are usually about 2-3lbs at most. If it's in a cryo-vac, it could be two pieces. For $17, that's very cheap (at least around here). You're paying $4.34/lb. I'm usually paying around $8/lb for CAB.Recently I was fortunate enough to pick up a Australian Wagyu Tri-tip for $9/lb. WELL worth it!Tri-tip is one of my favorite steaks.

Going back tomorrow I'll pic it up and post a pic:)Hows ya gettin' on, me ol ****?Kippens.Newfoundland and Labrador. (Canada).

My local Trader Joe's started carrying plain tri tip (previously they only had marinated) for $6.99/lb. I had been getting it at Wegmans for $10.99/lb

Here in Socal they're regularly on sale for $3.99/lb. I usually have one on hand in the freezer. If it's price comparable I'd definitely go for the rib roast.XLBGE, LBGE, MBGE, SMALL, MINI, 2 Kubs, Fire Magic Gasser

That doesn't look like a Tri-tip cut in particular. Looks like a porterhouse to me. Even better!!
