That's a big hunk of meat! What did you put all over it? :-?Just a hack that makes some $hitty BBQ....

I mixed 1/2 cup each of orange juice, ketchup, brown sugar. Added a TBL of Worcestershire and a TBL of rub. Heated on the stove and spooned on top. I let it caramelize for a bit then FTC. It's a simple mopping sauce I've used the last few briskets and it's turned out good.cazzy said:That's a big hunk of meat! What did you put all over it? :-?

@TxBeekeeper...To each their own. But, isn't that softening the beautiful bark we all strive so hard for? Just my 2¢.cazzy said:That's a big hunk of meat! What did you put all over it? :-?

Try skipping the sauce next time. On a nice brisket, no need for it. Save that for meatloaf IMHO.NPHuskerFL said:

How much did it weigh when you bought it?Just a hack that makes some $hitty BBQ....

8.5lbs
The sauce does look thicker in the pic then what it is. It's a very light coating. But I will try my next one no sauce. I went with what I've done in the past to try out for my first egg brisket. Thanks for the input. -
Wow, I would have guessed much bigger.TxBeekeeper said:8.5lbsJust a hack that makes some $hitty BBQ.... -

I would've put it at 12#+ Looked like it pretty well filled the egg when you first put it on. Is this on a LBGE?cazzy said:How much did it weigh when you bought it?

Good first brisket on the egg!!! Making brisket on an egg is truly different than a Weber, gasser or stick burner etc. Each one ya do should progressively get better also. How did it taste?LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL

Dob't get axle-wrapped around the smoke ring-great looking cook. Great eats I'm sure!Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. CHEETO (aka Agent Orange) makes Nixon look like a saint.

I do have a Large. This was a prime Brisket. There really wasn't a whole lot of fat to trim off right out of the package. It's does look big on the pic, but it didn't have much weight to it.NPHuskerFL said:How much did it weigh when you bought it?

The taste was great. Had a much better smoke flavor than I used to get from my UDS cooks. Sliced great and was fork tender. I'm very pleased with the Egg results.

Looks really good, smoke ring looks fine I wouldn't worry much about it either as long as it tastes good!Slumming it in Aiken, SC.
