With that high of a carbon content, it all burns the same.  As long as that air can get to it, and around it, it will burn.  If you have not replaced your fire grate yet, that's the easiest fix for ANY charcoal on low and slow.

It comes out of the plant with bigger chunks than you see, but after a thousand miles of travel, it breaks down.  If we underkilned it, it would make it into the homes with the bigger chunks.  But then you would be paying for more wood fiber and less charcoal; which in turn, would produce more smoke, more ash, and not light as fast.

Thanks for the charcoal lesson. I figured it would breakdown some in shipping. I'm not complaining at all. I love the stuff. Haven't replaced the fire grate yet but am looking into it. Thanks again.

Man there are a ton of you guys in that area......no wonder we sell so much charcoal in those parts.  Just a heads up, starting next week it will be available at American Casual Living in Suwanee in addition to the local Ace stores.

For all you Suwanee area Egg heads, there's a new BGE store open in Suwanee at PIB and Moore Rd, near the Chil-Fil-A.  I think it is where the old Quizno's was located.  They have some good coupons available.

I bought my egg at the Suwanee store. Not sure about the Quizno's but it is in the strip behind the Starbucks. Paul and his wife are nice people to do business with. I just went by this afternoon to pick up a 20 lb bag of Lump.

I'll be cooking my first tri-tip tonight. Plan to reverse sear but sill no 100% clear on my time and temp plan.

I live in South Forsyth, it's technically Suwanee but more Johns Creek.

I am in Lawrenceville GA in Flowers Crossing subdivision. We have at least 10 eggs within a couple blocks. There is always smoke rising up somewhere. We were even thing about having our eggfest, but with everybody cooking at home and then sharing. It makes drinking together challanging, but I'm sure we can find a way.

Not in Suwanee, but in Newnan, right next door to PTC.

Anyone in the area looking for Rockwood, I've got the guys over at the Turkey Creek Ace to start carrying it. I don't use anything else, and use a bag a week!

Thanks!  I see they have sold about a dozen bags in the last two months......was that you special ordering it from them?  My weekly report from Ace doesn't break it down for off the shelf vs. special order, so please let me know if they have it stocked there--we'll add them to the website.

I order it from firecraft, the Ace at Windermere is $25 a bag. I use too much...
