I'm about a 1/16" to an 1/8" off

For some reason I cannot get my top and bottom to match up perfectly. I've re-done it 3 times now and it just doesn't seat perfectly. Is this normal or ok? When you tighten your top band is it normal for some of the center hole to show? If i'm doing it wrong I have no idea where I am screwing up.

Don't mean to offend you, but your BGE dome and base are made of fired ceramic and while the clay is still wet and un-fired it is subject to movement. I wish mine was only 1/16 to 1/8" out! These are cookers and not meant to be porcelain china. Hope I didn't p*ss you off!

A good gasket can solve your problems for years to come...but hey, what do I know about that solution?

More important: why were you not in Salado last weekend? Texas is not that big.
Salado TX & 30A  FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Just given a Mini to add to the herd.
