Pork chops and asparagus on the egg tonight. Had a little help. Well, he supervised while munchin' on his goldfish.
Pork chops were a little dry. Just seasoning salt on them.
Asparagus was horrible. Some pieces were done, others needed the chain saw to get through. I know it isn't the time of year. It was in the Bountiful Basket this week.

Way to start him early. Even though the cook didn't turn out perfectly, the time with the little one is priceless.__________________________________________It's not a science, it's an art. And it's flawed.- Camp Hill, PA

Nice, having the kiddos join in is a great part of egging.
Give brining the chops a try sometime. A couple hours is all they need and it helps keep them from drying out.They/Them

Try doing your chops indirect..I use a pizza stone wrapped in HD foil (Platesetter broke..bummer!)
400 for 15 min on each side (thick, 1.5 '' chops - bone in or not).
Use some Dizzy Pig or your fave seasoning.
Best damn chops I have EVER had. Would swear I ate them at a $100/plate restaurant. They are THAT good.
Last night we added some Mango Ginger Mint sauce. Whoah. Who needs to eat out?

Oh, yeah..let them rest for 5 min covered in foil after taking off the grill. Check temp with a insta-read thermo. At least 145, preferably mid 150s when you pull them.
Chops were SO juicy we had juice dripping all over the plates.
SWMBO said they were the best chops she's ever had IN HER LIFE.
YMMV.

Try them at 250* with an end sear. Best way I've done them. Haven't sous vided one yet.

I learned this tip with asparagus: Hold the thick end and the center and snap it. It'll break right where the tough stem starts getting tender.

nolaegghead has a good tip. I also like to lightly blanch my asparagus to about 50% done and let swim in an ice bath. While the protein is resting crank the grill up and finish the asparagus.

Don't think it was the cook on the asparagus. Talked to others who got theirs in a basket last weekend and had the same problem. 3 different cooks, 3 different methods to cook them, all three came out woody. Other guys steamed, or blanched then saute' and all had similar results. No Name City, just between Scottsbluff and Mitchell, NE Crown! More Crown!
