Simple Chili - Yes with beans!

After lunch dialed back the small a little and put in my new 5 qt lodge dutch oven with lid doubling as a skillet. Put in some oil and started cooking down the onion.
Next put in a pound of ground chuck.
Then added the rest of the stuff
Everyone in the pool,
Cooked all afternoon until the wind switched to 35mph and the small started moving across the driveway. Then brought it in and into the clock box until supper.
Plated with onion, cheese and a slice of peanut butter bread for dipping.
Have a great week all!

Nice meat and bean stew. How is the Penzeys 9000? I typically just get chili powder from them, not the mix.. I may pick some up for convenience.
-
Looks like a nice bean and beef bake. Not sure I'd call it chili with them beans in it.
Peanut butter bread for dipping? You people from Iowa are just strange.

@eggcelsior - Penzeys 9000 is good. Little more kick than normal powder with a lots other stuff like cumin, garlic, cilantro, paprika, cayenne, lemon peel, Mexican oregano, cocoa, and a few others

Believe it or not, I grew up on chili with beans. My poor mother, bless her heart, just didn't know any better having grown up in Pennsylvania. At least I can claim 4th generation Texan on my father's side wherre they know beans have no place in chili.

My neighbor is from Iowa and they put corn in everything. I like corn but not in chili. I guess it is an Iowa thing. Nice looking soup. Enjoy.Large BGE, MiniMAX BGE, 2 Mini BGE's, R&V Fryer, 36" Blackstone Griddle, Camp Chef Dual Burner 40K BTU StoveBGE ChimineaProsper, TX

Good call on the chili!"The pig is an amazing animal. You feed a pig an apple and it makes bacon. Let's see Michael Phelps do that" - Jim Gaffigan

Oopps, did not mean to say you had corn in yours.
Just that my Iowa neighbors use corn in everything or at every meal.
Guessing it is because they were brought up around corn on the farm.

You are correct, lots do but not me. Lived here my whole life but not a big corn fan. Anything that goes in and comes out the same isn't Worth eating.Hotch said:Oopps, did not mean to say you had corn in yours.

Looks great. My first reaction to the peanut butter toast for dipping was...but then I remembered that I make the Cow Lick chili with bakers chocolate and cinnamon, so now it doesn't seem so oddWhich came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.
-
@SmokeyPitt - Thanks, i just dip in the chili or put a spoonful on the great to eat. I just enjoy it better than oyster crackers or somthing similar.

I just did chili yesterday. I'm a fan of the beans. Sorry @Griffin us Pennsylvanians like our beans. I also used brisket burnt ends with mine along with ground beef and bacon.
