I found ancho chili powder at a local Mexican market. They also had the dried whole peppers. The powder was in a cellophane bag with a yellow label across the top. 1 1/4 oz. package. Next time I am at a larger market I will try to find a bigger package.A poor widows son.

That seems odd that you can't find in your area of GA. I can even get it up here in Toronto.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------Well, "spa-Peggy" is kind of like spaghetti. I'm not sure what Peggy does different, if anything. But it's the one dish she's kind of made her own.____________________Aurora, Ontario, Canada

pantsypants, if you have a Wegman's in Toronto (which I doubt), they sell juniper berries. In plastic bags on an end cap in the produce section.
I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

in a pinch you can sometimes pick enough out of a package of pickling spice, juniper is strong and most recipes dont call for manypantsypants said:thanks but no Wegmansfukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it -
If you're asking about the product that I posted a picture of then, yes, I believe it is the same thing.Timbo66 said:Will ancho chili pepper work rather than the powder?---------------------------------------------------------------------------------Well, "spa-Peggy" is kind of like spaghetti. You have an Egg, smoke your own! Smoked Poblanos = Anchos. You can find poblanos anywhere. Unripened green will be more mild than the fully ripened red. After you smoke them, deseed and grind as needed. I find it more fun to make all my rubs this way. Sense of accomplishment, lol.
