Whole Wheat No Knead Rustic Bread

I've been tinkering with bread for a bit and decided to try my hand at whole wheat no knead. Found a recipe online that was a little more complicated than the white no knead I usually do (Julie's camp bread), but I tried it and it was excellent. Then, I decided to use that recipe with my usual (quicker, easier) timing and method.

Haven't tried it yet so I don't know what it tastes like, but it sure looks good! Hope it's flavorful since it's as easy as it gets!

Disclaimer... like my pizzas, all of my breads lately are done in my oven. If I were to do it in the egg, I would raise the stone 3-4" above gasket level, place the CI DO on that and bake at 400°. Indirect, of course. If it's any good, I'll post the recipe/method. :)

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

I'm not much for whole wheat bread, but that looks really good!  Nice photo work!

Same here. This is far better than the few ww loaves I have bought. Well, the previous two were, haven't tasted this one yet. Thanks!

Success!! Cooled enough to cut into and I couldn't wait for dinner. :) Loved the taste of this bread. Here's what I did...

¡Hola! Jalapeño's ingredients are a change from Julie's Camp Bread, but I like Julie's method better (overnight room temp rise, onto a floured bread board while the oven preheats and then into the hot DO). Less waiting around.

The recipe calls for 2 tsp salt. The first loaf I made, I reduced it to 1 1/2 tsp and thought it was still too salty. For today's loaf, I used only 1 tsp and I thought it was perfect! I am on a reduced sodium diet and have gotten used to less so YMMV.

As I said earlier, like my pizzas, all of my breads lately are done in my oven. If I were to do it in the egg, I would raise the stone 3-4" above gasket level, place the CI DO on that and bake at 400°. Indirect, of course. Like I used to do pizza.  :D

    Enjoy!

Michael,  Your link for the bread recipe does not work, in that it includes the word "and" at the end of the link.  This will work http://www.holajalapeno.com/2010/10/no-knead-whole-wheat-bread-recipe.html

Thanks for fixing. I tried to go back, but too late. Never could figure out why this place has a 1 hr time limit on edits. Thanks again!
