  • Yeah. I've had some good cuts from them. I also buy lump there. I realize you prolly will skip that.

Never bought meat from them but their lump is made by Royal Oak. One thing I will recommend there is their product called Tavern Cheese. It is a heavy garlic cheese spread that is very tasty if you like that kind of thing. Hard to stop eating it!

GFS is my choice for Boston butts. Bone in and generally a real good price. My local store has also started to carry choice packer briskets as well. I have one in the garage refrigerator that is a week in a brine that I plan on egging into pastrami this weekend. If yours doesn't stock briskets they will order them for you. I have been more than happy with the quality and have never gotten any complaints when I share at work. About one a month they usually have a $5 off coupon if you spend $50 in the Sunday paper. I also bought my charcoal there until I bought a pallet of Rockwood this past November :)

Last time I was there they had bone in butts and brisket in a fridge in the front of the store.  Pretty decent pricing, but I wasn't sure on the quality of the meat so I passed.  Nice to know that they're there in a pinch.

  • I have bought a couple of butts and a couple of briskets. All were good. The choice packers were $2.79lb last week. I also tried the burger in a tube. I dont remember the price but it was tasty enough.

I got my last Brisket there even though it wasn't graded at all. I'll go there again though if I can't find a packer anywhere. I need to pick up some butchers paper there and give that a try with brisket.

I'll stop in one near me Saturday to check prices. I have planned on getting a packer at Costco, but I'll check GFS out as well.

    Thanks,

    Donnie

  • In Tampa it's the only place I can find packer briskets - and they are less than $3/lb.
