OT-Making pancakes for a Men's Saturday morning Church function-how to pour batter with less mess

Our Church is doing another Saturday morning Men's pancake breakfast. I was in charge of making pancakes on a couple of big electric griddles last time, and while I was able to handle the chore okay, it did get a bit messy pouring batter right from the bowl. Any ideas on how to do this less messy? I read where some people use like a plastic water pitcher to pour from, maybe a ladle could be used? Although I think I might have tried ladle and it dripped a lot also now that I think about it.

A 1/4 cup measuring cup as a scoop makes perfectly sized pancakes (at least for my griddle), and I am able to keep from dripping.XLBGE, Small BGE, Homebrew and GuitarsRochester, NY

As many as I need to make, don't think the catsup bottle trick will work, saw that tip also. I like the idea maybe of a measuring scoop. I could have various sized scoops and experiment with which one did the best job.GreggLarge BGE Owner since December of 2013!

Don't know how much they cost but most restaurants I work around use a "gun". A hopper type container with a preset amount allowed to come out.Green egg, dead animal and alcohol. The "Boro".. TN

I'm sure another volunteer can fill the spare ketchup bottle up while you use the main one, and then rotate when yours runs out.

Well really just me by myself working the griddles and think it was about 6 or 8 pancakes per griddle at a time, so would be a bit chaotic with ketchup bottles. I think I'll take the plunge and get the dispenser henapple posted. Could use it at home for muffins too.GreggLarge BGE Owner since December of 2013!

You're going to need some help flipping and pouring!DoofusOfTheDay said:Well really just me by myself working the griddles and think it was about 6 or 8 pancakes per griddle at a time, so would be a bit chaotic with ketchup bottles. Trust me, last time I was hustling. Enjoyed the heck out of it though, even though I've never done cooking for lots of people at once. Kept making them, foiling them and putting in oven to keep warm, and on and on. Think there was about 30 guys last time.RRP said:
