Pear wood for smoking

I just grabbed a nice limb of Pear from a downed tree in the neighborhood, plan to cut it up tonight. I have never used pear but assume it will be similar to Apple. Does anyone have any experience with Pear?
If I hear some positive response, there is lots more where this came from. I would gladly share the wealth if there is anyone else out there in the Rochester area!!!!

I think your assumption is likely to be correct. Among the fruitwoods, I've used both green and dried apple and peach, and dried cherry. Fine stuff.
In general, it seems that most "hardwoods" that are actually rather hard produce good smoke. I've had poor results w. poplar and box elder, both of which are pretty soft.

I tried Orange and no flavor IMO. Pear is worth trying, you may like it. It may be wonderful and just not readily available.Dan, Columbia,Mo.
