14lb Turkey

Doing a 14 lb turkey for the family on the egg for the first time. Using the Mad Max method, would really appreciate anyone who has cooked a bird @ 325 on the egg to give me an approximate time for completion so all other dishes are prepared at the same time. Also, how long do you all allow your bird to rest?

  • 12-15 minutes per pound. I'm cooking my first bird as we'll, mad max style.

  • I cooked a 12lb last year and it took 3.5-4 Hours at 300 to get the dark meat to 180. Good Luck!

i cooked a 19 pounder today.  started off slow with 1 small piece of Guava wood @200 for 30 mins, then got it up to @325 for 3.5 hours.  Had it breast down for first 3 hours, breast up for 1 hour and it turned out fantastic.  got it to 162 degrees in breast.  being upside down the legs were a bit past 18- but still really good.  have 2 more for tomorrow.....after a while, you get a reputation.....
