Thanksgiving Jucy Lucy Burger

Smoked some Jucy Lucys on the egg last night. I made them with ground turkey,herb seasoned bread stuffing, onion, and mozzarella cheese. My wife came up with the idea of adding mashed potatoes and gravy for the topping. The mashed potatoes and gravy were a great addition I must say. My wife's response after the first bite, "this is soooo much better than Thanksgiving dinner!" Next time I will use fresh ingredients instead of spices I had on hand. I'm thinking I can turn them into sliders and do them at Frozen Fest in February for something a little different

Remember, if it's spelled correctly, you're eating a shameless rip-off. -
Looks great! Never smoked a burger, but it looks like you still got great color on them. What temp did you do it at?- Proud owner of a Large BGE- Norman, OK

It sounds like it will be a big turn out this year. A ton of fun with a bunch of great people. I wasn't sure how I was going to go about a stuffed Thanksgiving Jucy Lucy. I found this recipe online and based my idea around it. If I had some more time I would have thrown the patties in the freezer to stiffen them up. The breading doesn't help much for them wanting to stay together when making them into patties. I'm thinking if they were frozen that they would be a little easier to flip and could possibly be put on the grate directly.

@ travisstrick
It's hard having to rest Jucy Lucys when taking them off the grill. That cheese stays hot for a good amount of time. That sucks your lip blistered up. I bought my large egg after 5 years of dating my wife and before I bought her engagement ring. She's the one who said go for it! That's when I knew she was a keeper!hapster said:If I were you; I'd marry your wife again... Wives with ideas like that are sure keepers.

@Hoov
I had the platesetter in the egg for the first 5 minutes of the cook and had the egg around 200 degrees. I used some apple wood chips with the platesetter to get some smoke into the burgers without trying to cook the burgers to quickly. Once I thought the burgers were good for smoke I removed the platesetter and bumped the egg to 350 to finish the cook. Seemed to work. Think I'll loose the platesetter next time and see if the patties will hold up on the grate without falling apart. More of an experiment this time around"The pig is an amazing animal. I never noticed the red box for mentions prior to Caliking mentioning it. I was able to see yours and Caliking come up. That's cool- it pops up on the screen and then it also shows up in notifications section under your profile. I assumed it wasn't working because the link doesn't work (the link to your profile in the comments doesn't include the ?).WeberWho? said:@SmokeyPitt I never noticed the red box for mentions prior to Caliking mentioning it.
