My Custom LBGE Table
Loosely based on the design here:

I work with a guy that does custom cabinets and recruited him to help me build my table.
100% Western Red Cedar.
1.5" angle iron support for the Egg
Recessed paver for the Egg to sit on
Flush mounted 22"x24" granite remnant ($10 on craigslist!)
No casters, I don't plan to move it.
I had to double the pavers because the hinge just touches the table. I'll either cut out an area for the hinge or built a 1/2" spacer on top of the angle iron, under the paver to raise it enough for the hinge to clear.
I need to get some mulch today to put under and around it.

Very nice. I really like the exposed granite edge. Are you going to stain/seal it or just allow it to weather?

Just a quick update. Decided to go ahead and put a coat of Thompson's clear water sealer on it. It really brought out the grain and knots. I'm very happy with how it turned out!

If you put a notch in back for the hinge to drop down, you will be able to lower the egg some.

The table looks even better after staining. Nice work! The cover is a good idea - I lived in Iowa City for a few years and know what those IA winters are like. I assume you are talking about the stainless cap?
I love it! Keeps the rain out, easy adjustment, won't move when you open the dome, won't fall off and break if you open the dome too fast...the list goes on!

Another update on the paver. I ended up finding a 3/4" thick piece of black delrin (melting temps is well over 350 degrees) at work that I cut to to fit the 1" recess. This raised the 1 1/4" paver just enough for the hinge to clear. Its a nice stable base that retains the look of a recessed paver.
Also, finally mulched!
