Magnolia wood good for smoking?

I have a small magnolia tree planted too close to the house by the previous owner and it needs to be taken down soon. Has anyone tried it to for smoking? A guy is coming by next Friday and I need to decide should I have him haul it or cut down for firewood/smoke wood. Internet search turned up with mixed advice. Thanks.
