Smoke was blowing clear-now its back to white and thick

Lit an hour ago, cherry chunks mixed thoughout, was blowing clear at 30 min and temp has been slowly climbing to a 210 dome temp currently.
Put ribs on 20-30 minutes ago, slight white smoke at first after putting rubs on but went away quickly, now after a good 20-30 clean burn time, she starts pushing out some not so good smelling white thick smoke.
Any advice?

Are you using a drip pan and if so, are the ribs hanging over the edge? May be drippings burning in the coals.__________________________________________It's not a science, it's an art. And it's flawed.- Camp Hill, PA

drip pan in place, maybe a little dripping off but I dont think thats it, I just pulled them off for a bit, not gonna waste all this work

I guess the simple answer is something that wasn't burning before is now. That most likely a new piece of wood, lump, or drippings. I'd be more worried about moving the ribs on and off than smoke.Finally back in the Badger State!

I did that, good call, she started getting back to normal after a few minutes and we are back on track
