Beef Filet Tails? Anyone tried them
Had a crappy day at the office, so my girl surpised me by purchasing something new to put on the Egg. I haven't ever heard of it and can't seem to find anything on that exact search string except for a place to purchase it.[p]Anyone have any incite to what it's cut actually is, and good tips on cooking it. I saw the $$$, don't want to screw it up.[p]Thanks,
Chris

cgbeer,[p]From your description...it sounds like the tail end of the tenderloin.[p]many times people save them for Shish ka Bobs or beef tip recipes.[p]Look up beef tenderloins, and go from there.[p]HTH[p]Evans
[ul][li]Beef Tenderloin Info.[/ul]I spent most of my money on good bourbon, and bad women...the rest, I just wasted!! -
Chubby,
yea, that's what it sounds like to me too . .. .i save up a few of them from when i butcher whole tenderloins from costco, then grill them up, cut em up small and use them in either chili or in my wokked potato hash. ... [p]coming from the tenderloin, they are very tender and could also be great for kabobs or stroganoff, etc. . . .

Mornin' cgbeer,
I have 'em all the time. Just the end of the filet, same cut of meat, just not as pretty as the filet steak.
Cheers,
bruce

<p />cgbeer,

looks like the tail end of the tenderloin, cut them steak size and wrap with bacon to help hold it together. these are from the tail end working toward the center of the tenderloin. trex and they are great
fukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it -
The best ones I've ever had come from Allen Brothers. The usually run a promo that for every order over $99, you get 8 tails for free. They are insanely good.

cgbeer,
I will be experimenting with those in a beef wellington recipe.
