<p />ive got to many questions today.frozen kosher birds were on sale this weekend. with the salt that they are brined in, the birds are just too salty to use my typical rubs, what would work better, sugar based rub with no salt, just garlic and oil etc. ive got a few to experiment with

    i like a marinade of 50/50 olive oil/lemon juice, with heavy dose of herbs de provence. .. no salt. .should work good for those kosher birds. .. .

    Another suggestion is to rub themk with olive oil and use one of the Mrs. Dash preps, which are salt free.

    i buy most spices from penzy's online, but i didnt see this there. if its not there, i got it at a grocery store. this is a recipe to make your own, however youll need to find lavender which penzy's has.[p]HERBS DE PROVENCE MIXTURE:
    3 TB. Oregano leaves [p]3 TB. thyme leaves [p]1 tsp. basil leaves [p]1 tsp. sage leaves [p]3 TB. savory leaves [p]2 TB. lavender flowers [p]1 tsp. rosemary leaves [p]

    you can buy the imported stuff in nice white 'crocks' at places like williams sonoma, sur la table. . etc. .. .you can also buy it in bottles from 'mccormacks' at any grocery store in the spice aisle. ...its good stuff, i use it all the time. .

    how long do you marinate for, ill give it a go. ive got everything in my weed infested herb garden except the lavender. maybe sub in some coriander instead

    i'd give it a least an hour. . ..also, drink the entire beer, and put the leftover marinade in the beer can instead. .. .just be careful when pulling the can out as it will be hot oil. . ..

    I would soak them in cold water and change it every hour for 3 hours.
