Need to find a good butcher in Phoenix

Unknown
edited November -0001 in EggHead Forum
Ok, looks like I have been caught in the spiderweb that is BGE ownership. I am going to go buy a large BGE today or tomorrow and was wondering if anyone knew of a good butcher in the Phoenix area. I live in N Phoenix I17 and Carefree, but am not adverse to driving a good distance to find quality meat.[p]I am not sure what my first meal will be. Maybe steaks, pulled pork, or Tri Tip. Most likey steaks for the instant gratification factor.[p]Thanks in advance

EricB, You can get the same feeling off of a Tri Tip. Just finished off one I did a couple day's ago today. Still tender and tasty. Do it Trex just like a steak.

  • Also when cooking a steak what is the proper "well done" internal temp? My wife likes her steak well done, but hates it dry.[p]Thanks
  • EricB,
I've had real good luck with Midwestern Meats in Mesa..Main and Greenfield area. That may be a bit much of a drive for you, but they really have good stuff..

EricB,[p]if you want super grade prime, then try www.lobels.com.
otherwise try costco... they're the best all-round source for the money.

  • Closest store is the Costco at I-17 and the 101.[p]I have gotten some good stuff from a shop on 16st down by the airport, have found some nice packer briskets. Don't remember the name, but you should be able to find it in the yellow pages.[p]I am in Phoenix about one a month. Have a place at Point Tapitio, about 7st and Thunderbird. Dear daughter building a new house by New River off 7st north of the Carefree Highway. Going to buy her and son-in-law a BGE for housewarming present.
  • Thanks to everyone that responded. For day to day we will probably shop mostly at CostCo, but we found some amazing steaks at a butcher shop in Cave Creek off of Cave Creek road north of Carefree road.[p]I bought the BGE on Saturday. Starlight (the grill company) is where I bought it and they were AMAZING to deal with. I would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone in the Phoenix area looking to buy an egg. They had the best price in town and by far the best service.[p]I went to other dealers in town who were charging extra for the DFMT and thermometer (which the brochure these dealers gave to me only moments before clearly says the egg includes these features) Starlight had the egg at the same price as these other dealers, but included the thermometer and DFMT.[p]PLEASE, PLEASE do yourself a favor and call these guys if you are in the area. But note that their address is wrong on the BGE dealer list, but the phone number is correct.[p]Sorry didn't mean to sound like an advertisement but I believe strongly in supporting customer oriented shops, especially Mom and Pop shops. If you have a couple of days to kill just ask me about my home theater speakrs...LoL
