Just Legs

Chicken legs, a good solid staple weekly dish.  Marinated overnight in Allegro Hot & Spicy.  Done direct, raised grid, at 400 until the internals were in the low 180s.  Really good, and the marinade had some real bite tonight.  Chicken legs were never favored much, until we started doing them this way.  These were really good.

Had some sweet potato and raw veggies with them.

Leftovers for lunch and the freezer.

Pics to follow.

  • That looks great Doc!  I've been getting into sweet potatoes myself lately.  Chicken legs are one of the "no hassle" foods (we don't have to hassle her to eat it) my four year old daughter will eat, so we do them a lot!  Great looking meal Doc!

  • I got my stand from Home Depot.  I've been thinking of getting a couple of the style you have Doc.  I think if I sit them on a brick to give some height, I might be able to do some turkey legs.  Maybe four per rack would fit.  What do you think?

Certainly could do that if you had lowered grid.

I've never tried the Allegro on chicken. It's on my list.
Be careful, man! I've got a beverage here.

No grill marks and no flipping or uneven heating.

Gives you a lot more capacity, and I find the skin comes out nicer than laying on the grid.  You get a good even cook.

Nah!  I get my teenager to do them.  No sweat!  It only costs me college tuition, car, gas, food, insurance...

Haha... that's one expensive dishwasher.  Average cost to raise a child is around $300,000 (excluding college tuition).

If you soak then right away, and overnight they clean up easy.

Legs are rubbed down and I'll be throwing them on before the ND game in their new rack.  only did a dry rub this time though- no time to marinade

  • Looks great XLB.  Funny you bring it up.  I've been deer hunting all week, and eating leftovers.  We're doing legs tonight as the first fresh cook.

BTW, we're eating chicken, not venison

Great looking legs! the chicken legs that is. I'd never made chicken legs until I got my Egg. I love that stand you got. But seriously, Ace Hardware??? You must have a far better Ace than I do. Do you know who actually makes the stand IE Webber, Charbroil, cause I'd be real surprised to see this at my Ace? TIA.
