I own the large size egg and love it and now am considering the mini egg to take on trips but am wondering if it cooks the same. My main questions are will it get as hot, and since the meat is closer to the coal is there a better chance to burn food.[p]thanks for any help

    <p />kenny,
I really like my mini. It resides in the equipment room for lunch.
Make sure you have enough fuel. I was having trouble getting to 750+ for steaks but was not adding in enough lump.[p]I really like it when large is cooking steaks and I have shrimp on the mini.[p]Mike

  • Car Wash Mike,
I have the large and was going to get a mini just for vegatibles, shimp, etc, while the large was cooking.[p]Do you think tyhe mini will do or shoold I get the small. I already ordered the mini can shift it the small.

    rich in Chicago,
Looking back, I kinda wish I had gotten the small. I use the mini at Arrowhead a lot for tailgaiting. 4 nice filets set well in there.
I'm currently looking at a small now. It is your choice. I will tell you this. I have never gotten 4 ribeyes or KC Strips on the mini at once. That is why I'm wanting a small.[p]I do like my mini though. Great for lunches at work.

rich in Chicago,[p]I think the Small is all around a better value as it can cook more food, longer, and gives you much more versatility than the Mini.[p]It's also still a managable size for camping.[p]Still...I think I'd like to have one someday.[p]Evans
I spent most of my money on good bourbon, and bad women...the rest, I just wasted!!
  • Car Wash Mike, I have a large and had a mini, which I used for camping, and at home for hamburger, dogs, chops, etc. for my wife, myself and usually one other. I sold my mini and got a small for more cooking space. I like the small, but my oh my how I miss my mini. It is quick cooks great. I am going to get another mini. My advise would be to get both.

  • Car Wash Mike,
I use my mini 95% of the time, but am cooking for 2. I also have a small and a large for bigger and/or longer cooks. I use hair drier to get temps to 750 and higher.
