beer soak cedar plank

i was reading in a mag. that a guy soaks his cedar planks in beer instead of just water before cooking on them. Has anyone tried this ? if so can you tell the difference ?

I've never tried it but anything with beer is better

"Westvleteren Abdij Saint Sixtus Belgian Trappist Beer infused red cedar wild pacific planked salmon with corn on the cob"

I know, I feel terrible whenever I find a "wounded soldier" the next morning. I probably feel terrible anyway.
