Charcoal and Wood chunks in Germany

Unknown
edited November -0001 in EggHead Forum
I have just moved to Germany and my BGE is on the way. The movers refused however to pack the storehouse of wood chunks and charcoal that I had stored claiming they were flameable. Well, utilizing that logic they shouldn't have packed my coffee table, didning room table etc. Does anyone know of a good source for natural charcoal, mesquite and hickory chunks etc that is either located in Germany or could ship via USPS to Germany?
Thanks for your help

markb442, check with the BGE Europe site. Lump is available in Europe. What part of Germany?

markb442,[p]Where in Germany are living? I lived there for 5 years and the only charcoal I could find was lump. That was back in the early 90's and where I was dubbed "Der GrillMeister".[p]Wood chunks can be boxed up and shipped, but I would not worry about lump. You should be able to get it at WalMart (formerly Wertkauf), OBI Markt (kind of like Home Depot), or Toom Markt (kind of like a Super WalMart). Look for Holzkohle bags.[p]Prost![p]GrillMeister

<p />markb442,[p]Here's a brand available. HEZ Holzkohle aus Buche. Basically it's lump charcoal made from Beech wood. I'd be intested in trying that. Just stay away from Holzkohle-Briketts.[p]The link below is german site for lump. How's your German?[p]Cheers,[p]GM

markb442,[p]Yep, I know. I used to make fun of my friends charcoal that it looked like lumps of coal. I was a Kingsford fan then and would have to get an Airforce friend to get mine for me at the PX. Now you can get Holzkohle-Briketts in Germany, but lump is the way to go. I remember how hot it would burn and the occasional snap, crackle & pop.[p]You will be a hit with your German neighbors mit das Grosse Gruene Ei![p]Prost[p]Ed
