I was talking to my mom the other day about gettig some CI pans for the egg. Much to my surprise, she told me she had my grandmother's skillets in storage. They haven't been used since she passed in 1986. That is all she ever cooked with. My mom told me I can have them, hr they'll need reseasoned. I'm so excited to be able to not only have some pans for the egg, but also have a great family heirloom that I can pass on to my kids.
Grandma was the best cook I've ever seen, IMHO, I hope I can make her proud by cooking some great food for the family!

I have one of my great grandmother's CI skillet's and it does add something special to any cook I do with it. Enjoy you new found inheritance.

Great catch !!!!! Yes, they are an heirloom, and should be passed down through the generations. We have a couple, and they are better than any teflon ever hoped to be.

don't sandblast them or anything crazy. try not to 'restore' them to brand new. you can't undo it if you overdo it, so try to proceed by degrees. the old ones are much better than the new stuff, because they are usually ground mirror smooth on the bottom and (an straight-walled pans) on the sides too.
my go-to pan is a wagner that belong to my great grandmother
i do nothing to it except wipe it clean with a paper towel while it is still hot. a little hot water will remove excess oils, but leave plenty to keep it jet black
congrats on yours. treat them well and your great grand kids will be able to appreciate them too.

Pictures please on your great find.Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Just given another Mini to add to the herd.

You are so fortunate. Congratulations. I have a few enameled pieces of CI from the 60's, and they remain most useful. Plain CI would have been even better.

That's cool, congrats!
