The Eggfest is so close that the weather guessers have already predicted the weather on that date.  It looks like a high of 74°.  That means that the gals can wear shorts, and (some of) the guys can wear shorts and T's.

That's why I said "some of" the guys.  I couldn't bear to say the word, or picture the concept in my mind.

Is this the one in Tempe, AZ? I've never been to a cook-off. Is this a big event? I live in MN and I'm thinking if the weather is good, I will try for a bike ride to the event. Are the many forum people at the event?

    Bigguy,

It's in Salado, Texas, which is a little north of Austin on I-35.  There are a couple of people riding their bikes down from Pennsylvania, and one from Arkansas, I think.

Go to the website. http://saladoeggheadgathering.blogspot.com/ and read about it.  To see who is coming, click on the link.  I'm sure there will be a lot more than that as the time draws closer.

Can I assume this will be a big meet of those on the forum? Living in the fridgid north, not much is going on for BBQ cooks and nothing compared to the south. Weather should be good for a quick 1200 mile ride (each way). I would need to leave Saturday afternoon to be back home on Sunday. Is there much to see Saturday morning/ afternoon?

It's showing 60% of rain and a high of 75. As much as I hate to have rain for the fest, Texas needs it badly. Its supposed to rain all week here.

Hmmm, 1200 miles to ride in the rain? I think everyone here is great but I might re-think this.

What is the next big BBQ where everyone will be at?

News 8.... 8 day forecast has March 17th for Austin/Round Rock ... 78, Breezy, 20% chance of rain. Should be similar for Salado. This far out there's no telling for sure.
  • best forecast in Texas is "tomorrow will be just like today"...its too early to get the temp right...give it a few days and we will have an idea if we need rain gear!!!

Rockwall Texas, just east of Dallas where the humidity and heat meet! Life is too short to get caught in the fast lane behind somebody slow!
