This easy steak marinade will have your friends bringing their steaks to
you, asking you to marinate it for them! It adds a delicious, elaborate
flavor,

Ingredients

Serves: 2

  • 1 large jalapeno

  • 1 large beef steak

  • 1 tablespoon black pepper

  • 1 tablespoon red pepper

  • 1 tablespoon white pepper

  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder

  • 1 tablespoon meat tenderizer

  • 2 teaspoons paprika

  • 2 tablespoons ground sea salt

  • 1/2 cup soy sauce

  • 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar

  • 1/3 cup red wine

  • 3 tablespoons olive oil

  • 1 tablespoon hot pepper sauce (such as Tabasco(R) or Crystal(R))

  • 6 teaspoons minced garlic

  • 2 limes, juiced

  • 1 teaspoon mustard powder

  • salt and pepper to taste

Preparation method

Prep: 30 mins
| Cook: 15 mins
| Extra time: 1 hour, marinating

1.

First, we'll create a rub for the steak, and then the marinade.

2.

Begin by slicing the jalapeno in half and seeding it thoroughly.
Firmly rub the steak with the jalapeno halves, covering all sides.
Reserve jalapeno.

3.

In a clean, dry bowl, mix the black pepper, red pepper, white pepper,
garlic powder, meat tenderizer, paprika and sea salt. Rub mixture over
entire steak until bowl is empty.

4.

Mix the soy sauce, balsamic vinegar, red wine, olive oil, hot pepper
sauce, garlic, lime juice, mustard powder, and salt and pepper to taste
in a large, shallow dish. Stir concoction well.

5.

Set steak in marinade, cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at
least 1 hour and up to 30 hours. Half-way through marinating process,
turn steak over and re-cover.

6.

Preheat an outdoor grill for medium-high heat, and lightly oil the grate.

7.

Grill steaks to desired doneness, about 7 minutes per side for
medium-rare. After grilling, let sit for 10 minutes before cutting or
eating for maximum flavor. Enjoy!

Spice up any cut of steak with a tasty and easy steak marinade recipe.
Marinating a steak in herbs, spices, wine, vinegar and other fresh
ingredients allows you to add just the right amount of flavor to a
steak, tenderize it and bring out the wonderful natural flavors and
juices of any cut of meat.

These are some tips that i have learned from one of the chef who work in continental treat restaurant
in Edmonton, I have driven by this restaurant a few times before and
noticed that they are open really late so I decided to drop by one night
after work and pick up dinner. The staff were helpful and friendly
which is pretty impressive even at late hour also, and luckily i managed
to extract this tip from him that was unknown to me.

Isn't Cooked Steak Tartare an oxymoron?  I've always thought that, by definition, tartare meant "raw".  I'm purty sofistimacated, so learn me why this be tartare.

I am with VI, to me tartare is fine chopped beef, chopped onions plus salt and pepper.  You eat it on a hardy bread as a thick spread.  Some people marinate the meat but cooking makes now sense.

Sounds tasty but I don't think it is tartare.
  • Beef tartare is definitely seasoned minced beef served raw.  I've only had it in restaurants.  It is excellent.

Fishless, I also have enjoyed kibbe all my life. Love it. Many years ago when I was dating my wife, she came to my house for Sunday dinner. A huge plate of raw kibbe was in the center of the table. Carol said she was dating a cannibal. She has been married to this cannibal for 53 years.

fishlessman: Are you from Lebaneese heritage?  There aren't a whole lot of us that eat raw kibbe. I'm glad you brought it up.  Might make it this weekend.
