What's the dang deal?

The Price tag says 8.8 pounds. The actual bag says 10 lbs. I'm not sure if this effects the price. Do any of you have any thoughts or comments. Whiz, do you know what the difference is?

On the up side, Wally World has tons of lump

    You owe me, Travis.  I went out to the garage and brought in a bag of RO to weigh, and got my socks wet in the process.  The sack weighed 10.5 pounds, so Wally is wrong.

    Yes, quite a bit but, I don't see how that changes the discrepancy between the 8.8lbs of the shelf tag and the 10lbs of the bag.

    For clarity, the bag says is bold print "Net wt 10 lbs". The shelf tag displays the price and clearly says 8.8 lbs. I have not checked the actual weight but, that is irrelevant.

    Just bought two bags, my bags clearly say 8.8 lbs on them. I'm gonna try these two bags and hopefully they are better than my first bag. If not Ozark Oak all the way.

    Unless the 10lb bag weighs less than 8.8 lbs, which I bet it doesn't, everything seems OK to me.

    I'm betting the stock clerk glanced up at the pile on the right (in your last picture) and simply typed "8.8" into his laptop in a hurry.  
    And isn't WalMart the place where, this weekend, they have "Price: $8.00", and then next weekend it says "20% Off!!  Regular price $10.00, our price $8.00!" ?

    at the end of the day, what is less than 2 lbs of coal?  you gonna get the shaft at the gas pump anyway.  Splurge on the cooking fuel!!!!!!!

    I think it should be written 8.8 kilos, which is what a 20 bag should be

    Thinking they have the wrong unit on the tag, and the wrong bag in the spot.

    Anyway. If it were 8.8 pounds on the tag and ten in the bag, not sure what the issue was. You could always give them a little extra cash if it would help you sleep better

    I agree with Gato.  They're cutting down the amount in the bag, but charging the same.  Just as a pound of coffee isn't a pound anymore and 5 pounds of sugar ain't 5 pounds.  Same with ice cream and lots of other stuff.

    I wish I had this problem? Wally's here will not have any lump until April. They think that no one grills in North Carolina in Winter. But the local Egg dealer has lump, it's more money and then there's Lowes.

    They probably at some point got the different size of charcoal without noticing and didn't change the tag.  Do you know if you paid the 8.8lb price or the 10lb price?  If you paid for the 8.8lb price, I would go back and get more.

    A couple of yrs ago Royal Oak started to put less weight in the same bag rather than raise the prices. It's just like the Steak 'n Shake's around here selling a smaller burger and Hooters selling smaller wings for the same price. They did the same thing by putting just over 17lbs in the old 20lb bag. A lot of people didn't pay attention. Obviously your WalMart got some of the old 10lb bags in.
