Putting plate setter on a hot grill?

We forgot to put the plate setter on the grill until the grill was hot.  I told hubby, relax, this is BGE stuff, not the Pampered Chef pizza stone (we had a rather explosive experience with THAT one!)  I put room temp / cold cookware in a 350 degree oven all the time, and IT never shatters.  As far as the BGE goes, I know it's best to bring grill up to temp with the plate setter on it, but was curious... has anyone on the forum ever put one on "cold" and had it break (just with "normal" temps of at most 325-350 degrees)?
Thanks.

PS The baked ziti with fresh garden veggies and homemade sauce is looking killer good.  I didn't tell my better half that I healthed it up with Italian turkey sausage, though...  AND the plate setter hasn't broken!    :-)
