MAPP torch question

Mapp gas burns hotter than propane and comes in yellow bottles. Most newer torch heads will work on both propane and Mapp.MikeOmaha, NE
I'm ashamed what I did for a Klondike Bar!!

What BOWHUNR said....
I use the mapp on the mini and the big torch on the larges.
Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Just given a Mini to add to the herd. -
Check out the 5-in-1 BBQ Torch by BBQ Guru. Definitely the best means of using propane or MAPP.

That Guru Golf Club looks pretty awesome. I think I'll have to order one.Be careful, man! I've got a beverage here.

I use this one:
http://www.amazon.com/Bernzomatic-19425-JT850-Self-Igniting-Outdoor/dp/B00008ZA0F
I use it mostly for MAPP gas, but sometimes for propane. No getting near the lump. The self-igniter worked for about a year. Have used a welding torch striker since then.
Propane works fine, but often enough I'm lighting in either rain or cold. The half minute the MAPP saves is worth it to me.

I have a Bernzomatic MAPP torch though there is no such thing as MAPP
gas any more. The company that patented and made it went under and
stopped making it. There was talk when the patent expires someone might
start making it again. The stuff Bernzomatic sells in the yellow bottles
is labeled as max power propylene and does not burn as hot as MAPP gas
but it is hotter then propane. At one time time a MAPP torch could be used on either type of gas and
a Propane torch could only be used on a blue bottle but I not so sure
any more with the new products they are putting out. This explains it better: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MAPP_gas

To answer your question try the BORG or Lowes near you. I have a friend with the golf club and I think it is just ok. Not as many sparks flying but, to me the one time I used it it seemed slower.

Just to stir the pot, I believe MAPP or MAPP-Pro doesn't burn all that much hotter than propane, but it does deliver heat faster. I think it was Trex that first explained it to us. Something about flame combustion velocity or something like that. That being said, I doubt there is much benefit to using MAPP or MAPP-Pro with the BBQ Guru Club since there you aren't burning the gas the same way as you do with a MAPP torch. MAPP torches burn with a hot big noisy flame. The BBQ Guru Club burns more like a gas burner on a gas stove with quiet small jets of flame. Propane being cheaper, it might be a better fuel for the club.

Any advantage of the Benzomatic or BBQ club over the weed burner from Harbor Freight?
