Left the plate setter out and the rain came. It was proped up under somewhat of a ledge but it did get wet, not soaked. It's now been placed in the garage to dry. Is the thing going to be ok or it gonna crack when the heat gets it? Thanks for any info. Egg probably won't be used again for 4-5 days.

Good to know.
Thanks

Mine sits out year round in rain, sleet, snow, ice. No problem.

I was actually wondering if soaking your plate setter would be a way to provide moisture to your cook as the moisture evaporates from it. I'm guessing a drip pan with water or some other liquid would make that redundantbut was curious if it would be advantageous for any reason. Or if it would also carry with it some bad platesetter flavors.

i'm not convinced that a humid environment means moist meat. whether drip pan, or some other method.
also, no idea how truly absorbent the PS is. as others have mentioned, soaking chunks of wood overnight gives you maybe a 1/16th of an inch of wet wood. not exactly 'soaked' as we understand it
but i do know an unused egg can get very wet/damp

Might work as a heat-sink and delay your getting up to temp. Just keep an eye on it as you go up. WIll dry soon enough.

Thanks for the input. I just didn't know if the heat would crack or break it if it was wet/moist.

I just dumped six inches of snow off mine and put it on the egg. Been doing that for 5 years and never had a problem.
