Plate-Setter Storage Method
I just purchased my first egg the day before Thanksgiving 2011 and have been having a blast learning how to use it. One thing that I wanted to do was figure out how to store the plate-setter when I am not using it so that it would be safe from damage due to being knocked over or stepped on. I have a large egg with a nest and there isn't a convienent place to keep it. I didn't want to keep it in the garage since it smells of smoke.
I was in the local home improvement store and came across a Wheel Barrow Storage Bracket made to hang a wheel barrow on the wall. It has two pieces but I only used the bottom piece. It was on sale for $12.99. I mounted it to the wall beside my egg. The plate-setter fits perfectly.
I thought you folks might like to see it.

Great idea! Thanks for sharing!

Looks good but isn't the plate setter going to discolor your siding? I'm not sure about your plate setter but I know mine gets a few drips here and there, if you have it sitting there it's likely to get some transfer. My $.02

My $.02I haven't thought about discoloration to the siding. I don't really think it will be a problem for most types. The grease / soot will probaly wash right off. I did consider that my house has vinyl siding, so I can't store it when it is hot.

It's a really cool idea, but I just store mine inside my egg.XL BGE - Large BGE - Small BGE - Traeger Lil' Tex Elite - Weber Smokey Joe

I built a table for my Egg. Can I leave the plate setter outside in the cold weather?

Nice hangar thing! But I also store my platesetter inside my egg.
You may be inviting critters to come over and lick that tasty-smelling platesetter clean!

Yes, you can store the platesetter outside in the ice and snow. But - the important thing is to keep it safe so it won't get dropped/stepped on / broken.

1 Weber Kettle

Don't wish to be a down voice here. The best way is not to buy it in the first place. Adj Rig and stone works so many ways better and easier to store. This is not said for you and you did come up with a good way to store. But more for those who have not bought one yet.Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Plus a couple Pit Boss Pellet Smokers.

Excellent, I will get one to mount on the outside of my cedar armoire egg case in order to free up more room inside...Seems I've been buying accessories that is starting to make storage cramped!

tjp 1060, Absolutely BRILLIANT! I store mine in my egg when I am not cooking, but have no where safe to put it when not using it (direct cook), or when removing it to switch from indirect to direct. I will be at the hardware store shortly!!!!! I am so stoked! Mickey, you are not a downer! Great advise. Your recommendation is a good one for those that don't have a PS yet, or break their.... You solution provides a lot of flexibility!

Very creative, but for another couple of bucks, you can mount it on your nest. I saw this a while back and recalled that it was a BGE product, but I don't see it on their website so maybe not.Not an endorsement as I don't have one. Just thought I'd mention that they are available.
I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!
