What is your favorite BBQ sauce? I like to have a few to offer when folks come over for BBQ, but I'm thinking I would like to make some too.

The latest one I have tried and really liked is Jardine's Louisiana Cayenne, and it's awesome in my opinion.

What say you all? I would like to try some homemade ones too, if anyone has some good recipes.

  • The best homemade sauce I ever et was Bill Canon's BBQ sauce. Note: I have no relationship to Texas BBQ Rub or the people who own it.

    1 28 oz. bottle Hunt's Ketchup
1 19 oz. bottle Jack Daniel's Honey Smokehouse BBQ Sauce
1 can Rotel, Mexican Lime & Cilantro
    1 medium Onion , chopped
    2 tablespoons Garlic, minced
2 cups Brown sugar, or 1 c Splenda Brown
    ½ cup Texas BBQ Rub
    2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
    2 tablespoons Mustard, Yellow prepared
    ¼ cup Chili powder
    ½ cup Pineapple juice
2 bottles Water, from Empty ketchup bottle
1 can Water, from empty Rotel can
1 bottle Water, from empty BBQ sauce bottle

Mix ketchup, BBQ sauce, Rotel and chili powder in a large pot. Start cooking on the stove at medium temp. Add the water (you will get out all of the extra sauce from the bottles this way). Stir in garlic and brown sugar . Stir in the rub. Add the chopped onion, worchestershire sauce, and mustard. Bring sauce to a boil then reduce heat to a simmer. Add pineapple juice. Let simmer for at least 1 hour (longer is better). I usually simmer mine for about 2 hours.

Serve as a side dish for those who ask for it. Use it in the brisket recipe.

Makes about 4 quarts. You will use some of it to finish off the brisket and the other to serve. Keeps for days in the frig.

For BBQ sauce for pork, delete the Rotel and put in 1 can of Peach Nectar.

My favorite is from a place in Vermont. It has been around since the early 70's. It is called Curtis's Ribs. I love his sauce.

Stubb's Original! The variants, like Spicy, Mesquite, etc, are very good, but I love the Original.

We like Bone Suckin Sauce best! We don't usually make from scratch as there is such a wide variety of commercial sauces available - would rather spend time on other dishes....we also like Famous Daves - Sweet & Sassy. ;)

This is the best I've ever had. I'm from IL originally (where this is made) and it is rumored to be Tiger Woods' favorite as well. I know that doesn't hold as much weight as it used to, just saying, it's fantastic.

I have several brands of BBQ sauce, but my favorite by a pretty good margin (and the favorite of most of my family and friends) is Blues Hog. Original, Tennessee Red, and their Honey Mustard are all good. I love mixing the original and red together. I got my local dealer to add Blues Hog sauces/rubs to his BBQ store.

Carnivore, Bone Suckin, Wee Willy's and Head Country are all very good also (on mostly anything), but Blues Hog is still the best. That being said, some sauces are better for different dishes. I love Carnivore for my meatloaf and Head Country is really good on beef ribs.

Jack Miller's BBQ sauce. Made in Ville Platte, LA
"The Bar-B-Que Sauce with a Cajun Accent"

We absolutely love it! Won't even think of cooking chicken on my BGE without Jack Miller's. It's that good.

From the store I like Sweet Baby Rays. I have made Stephen Rachelin sweet and smoky BBQ sauce from his sauces and marinades book.

'Tis a tie for beef and pork.

Blues Hog Original and Tennessee Red 50/50 (sweet/vinegar).

    Carnivore Robust (peppery).

    These two have different profiles.

For chicken it's Blues Hog Honey Mustard.
