I have the Guru thermometer clipped to the BGE therm. The BGE therm was just calculated to 212.

Right now, the Guru therm reads 226 (set temp). The BGE reads 210. Which should I go by? The Guru is clipped to the tip of the BGE.

It doesn't matter +/- 16° isn't going to make any difference in your cook or the taste of the food.

Several factors may reflect the difference one being the BGE thermometer is about a $10 thermometer (not at BGE prices).

When you get time test the guru probes in boiling water and ice bath water. Don't get the probe to cable connection wet.

Your using the guru, so go by it. Wouldn't make much since to run a guru and try to go off the BGE therm   ;) Mine also has a +/- 10 to 15 degree diff at times during my cook. Sometimes they are spot on. Most of the time mine start off different and match up later in the cook. You can drive yourself crazy with stuff like that. No worries!

You are still OK, one thing, if you go by the guru 226° and the guru is clipped on the dome thermometer, you grate temperature is probably close to 200° maybe a little less.

I would probably trust the guru over the BGE. Is the guru clipped to then 'tip' of the dome thermometer. The 'tip' is where the sensor is reading. You will see a ring at the tip, I would clip just above that ring.

Take a look at this, right hand picture.
