yes, I scored it myself. I think the benefit is, that the meat absorbs the marinate flavor better due to this scoring. -
I agree. Beautiful job on it. I would have to use a mitre box to get that degree of accuracy.

Excellent job, EggSimon.
I always score my flank steaks too. Not only does it expose more surface area to the rubs/marinades you are using, it also gives a nice texture when sliced as you can see in your pictures.
