Chicken over potatoes

I wanted to try cooking spatchcock chicken over a tray of potatoes. Would this work better direct or indirect? Do I need butter in tray to keep moist or are the droppings enough? Thanks!

Indirect - support the tray off of the platesetter with green feet or foil wads. No need for butter and you can add other veggies.
