My sifter and lump bucket

<p />Here's a pix of my sifter I made from scrap wood and a piece of 1/2" hardware cloth. When the bag starts getting down I sift out the dust and small pieces with this and then pour the good stuff back in the bag - that's why it is narrow like this. You eggers more my age will recognize the coal bucket which I actually bought brand new. With its protruding snout it is perfect for sliding lump in vs dumping - especially in the small BGE with its rather narrow opening. I just offer this idea up for whatever its worth.

I ain't that old, but I know a coal bucket when I see one! My granfather had one when they burned coal in a stove for winter heat. His wasn't that pristine looking though.

LOL - I didn't mean to imply ANY poster here use to use one, but like you said would have at least seen one in their youth. My nice new galvanized one came from a local mom & pop hardware store with the reputation "if they don't have it - you don't need it"

Hey Ron, do you use any lump that doesn't go thru the screen? Seems like some of them would be pretty small if its 1/2 in screen. See-Yaa

just the opposite - what falls through the 1/2" holes lands on the ground as waste along with the dust.
