Best Lump In Atlanta

Seeking opinions on the best lump charcoal in the Atlanta area? Best I have found is True Que from Home Depot. Kroger brand is ok. BGE is 3rd on my list. Royal Oak from Walmart sux, leaves a chemical taste. I've looked at The Naked Wiz's reviews but not everybody has access to 87 brands. What's available in the Atlanta area that beats True Que?

Hmm- I've found wicked good at some of the Ace Hardware stores.. Depending on where you live. The two I've been to are the Buckhead Ace (4405 Roswell Rd, Atlanta, GA 30342 | 404-255-2411) and another in Dunwoody that was awesome - 1316 Dunwoody Village Pkwy, Atlanta, GA 30338..
I've also had good luck w/Publix Lump. Best was when I bought a pallet of Wicked Good...
The guys in Dunwoody even had the material for a rutland gasket and got a new firebox grate. -
I get Cowboy lump from the Ace in Buckhead. I haven't had any problems with it.

Thanks RU, I got an Ace 2 miles from the house, I'll check it out.

I like the Frontier brand from Ace near me. It is also pretty reasonable. A 20 lb bag is like 11.99 or so.Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

The Kroger, Royal Oak and Big Green Egg brands are all made by Royal Oak. It's interesting you're seeing differences in the product across the labels. The only variation I've found is in the size of the lump pieces.BJ (Powhatan, VA)

That Royal Oak from WalMart is the same stuff that is in that BGE bag. If you like one you should like the other.
As for the "best", depends what you want. I am more of a value type of guy so I buy the Royal Oak. You can get Wicked Good at several Ace stores around town, but it's about twice the cost. -
I've had good luck with the Publix lump... would like to try Wicked Good if I could find it south of town down here in Fayetteville...the Ace here has Cowboy which is okay and I use it sometimes, but the Publix has bigger lumps and sparks less and burns longer. imo.
