I thought I knew all I needed to about my setting/account etc at Photo Bucket which I use here and am quite happy with. OTOH I had a person stop me today to whom I had sent a thank you note along with a picture attached. Much to my surprise and chagrin this person proceeded to tell me how they have viewed our 11 albums with nearly 1,500 pictures! I have nothing in any to be ashamed of and I'll bet YOU don't either! I have checked some other posts and I see I opened my albums to them as well. I've checked my settings and I don't see where to plug this leak. ANY HELP would be appreciated!

There are some security options you can set, but frankly, I default to only keeping pics there that are for the forum anyway. Meaning, intended for the public

I wish I could guide you thru the finer points, but i don't know them

What's odd to me is they looked thru all of them AND told you that they did.

One thing people absolutely should not do is use PB as the sole storage place for their pics. Some do, assuming it saves disk space. But PB compresses the pics aggressively. At photo-quality a pic from photo bucket would be about two inches wide when printed

Keep your good stuff full resolution and on your drive, and upload nothing to PB but public pics you don't care about losing.

    Thanks, Jeff.

I have Carbonite backing up my pictures so I think I'm safe that way in case of loss - OTOH our photo file could be lost tomorrow and so be it. It just p*sses me off - I'll tell you later.

I have never tried it so I am shooting in the dark here but I am guessing that you want to try this, click on the edit option next to privacy.

Set the album to private and save the change.

    Blair:

That was so simple and easy to do! Thanks!

The default is "Public." Everything I have in Photobucket is in "Judy Mayberry's Album," so it took only a few seconds to click on "Private."

Thanks Judy, I hope that works, like I say, I have never used it (yet). I hope it does what we want it to. :)

Gator bait has the instructions right. Default on photo bucket is always public and you don't have to send someone a link for them to see your pics, anyone on pb can see all public pictures.

Thanks Tony, I thought that had to be it but have not had the time to play with it to confirm. :)

Glad I was able to help, I was not going to claim that was the solution cause I have not had time to play with it. I assume that it will not interfere with posting photos in a private album to the forum. But then again, just how private is private? LOL. That has been my only thought and I have not had the time to play with it. :)

I was able to verify since I had received a reply to another email I sent to someone else. In spite of being logged off Photo-bucket I could click on the picture link I had sent and sure enough it gave access to the full album. Then after making the album private when I tried again only the picture I intended to be viewed was available. So you da' man!

Cool! Thanks for verifying that, it was my only concern. I'm going to leave all my egging albums public, if someone wants to look at a ton of BBQ'd meat photos and make themselves hungry they are welcome to.
