Simple whole chicken cook at 350 dome, direct with drip pan. Need to figure out how to put it upside down. It was nice and moist!

I thought I read some posts that the chicken needed to be turned upside down to have a more even cook..I have been doing spatchcock, wanted to do one of these.

Thanks Blair! Added some of this for the 5th of May:

When I tried it last week, I took my poultry shears and made two two-inch (or so) cuts along the back-bone starting at the neck. Then I just pulled that out a bit to form a "handle" and used that to make it sit upside-down in a beer-can cooking stand. No beer can, though, the BGE just doesn't need it. Worked slick!

Thanks John, I'll try that next time. I agree, no need for the can on the BGE...Southlake, TX and Cowhouse Creek - King, TX. 2 Large, 1 Small and a lot of Eggcessories.

I do like Jaydub58...just cut a bit off the backbone to enlarge the neck opening so that the BGE chicken sitter will fit snugly. It does allow the thighs to be in the higher, hotter portion of the dome and a small drip pan underneath the "sitter" helps shield the breast from heat from below.
