First Green Egg Experience

I just wanted to share my very first experience with the Green Egg.
I consider myself to be an experience charcoal griller. Last night I made a meal that I have prepare on numerous occasions, the beer can chicken. I must say that in the past I would always have to reload charcoal in to the grill. However, not last night I was able to cook the entire meal to include the bake potatoes in the hour and half hour time frame.
We were amazed at how tender and juicy the chicken was. Also, the flavor was out of this world. We even notice the grill flavor to the potatoes mmmm.... delicious. Needless to say we can't wait until the next meal being prepared with the Green Egg.
I am now the proud owner of the XL BGE..., simply amazing

Congrats Rockies on your new Egg, Post some pics if you got them, people on here love to see what everyone is cooking.
-
Glad to hear it. Wait until you do butts or brisket, load up the BGE and you don't have to open it or add more lump for an 18-20+ hour cook...then you will be really impressed...

Awesome!
Congrats on your XL! Can't wait to see some pics of future cooks. -
Ahhhhhhh, another one hooked. :woohoo:

Welcome to the XL Club.
In a few months you will look back at your 90 minute cook and laugh. You can easily cook for 8-10 hours in the 300-350 degree range and over 20 hours at low and slow temps (225-250) with good lump.
Oh, if you don't post pictures your cook never happened. :laugh:Thank you,DarianGalveston Texas -
Congrats on the new egg and the first of many great cooks. And Photo Egg is right....No pics....Didn't happen . Don't worry..the family will get used to you grilling with a camera

Congrats! Others have already said it...you could have cooked 10 beer can chickens back to back and still had lump burning
. Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg. -
Congrats and welcome. Enjoy the egg.

Grats!! I am happy to say it will just get better.

Not sure why, but the mental image of a spatchcocked turkey just made me smile. It would be an awesome sight.
