Iron Egg Chef 2011 pics...

Morning All:
I didn't get many pictures of the Iron Egg Chef (tough to do when you are competing  ). Here were the other two members of Team SSN686...my much better half Kathy (EggHatter in front) and Julie (jbug99999 in back)...they definitely made me look like a thorn between two roses (plus great cooks too!)...

Our "pantry" laid out and waiting for the Secret Ingredients...

Didn't get a picture, but the secret ingredients were a very nice bone-in pork chop (about 1.25 inches thick), a sweet potato, a zucchini, a celery root and two little BabyBell cheese rounds. We grilled the chop with DP Pineapple Head for seasoning, plus topped with an Apricot/Pineapple glaze, also did sweet potato rounds with Pineapple Head, but the "star" of the plate were the "veggie cakes"...EggHatter & jbug99999 worked together to create something excellent...combined grated celery root, grated zucchinin, grated red potato, Panko bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg (for binder) and then topped with melted BabyBell. The Judges loved it!
Here is our plate that was turned in (we were Team 3)...

I was only able to get pictures of three of the other four competitors (judges had already sampled Team 1 before I got the camera out)...here is Team 2 (Faith -- FloridaGrillingGirl)...

Team 4 (Carlo)...

and Team 5 (Big'un)...

And the winner was...(drum roll please)....................................Team 4....

We really had a ball competing this year and according to Little Chef the top four teams were within one point of each other...can't get much closer!
Congrats to Carlo on the win!

That was a ton of fun Jay and your plate looked great. I thing bill on Faiths all girl team should get the best dressed award

Thanks Jay, All the plates look superb.
Congrats to Carlo -
Thanks for showing pics of the completed plates. I gave my camera to Paul to take pics during the competition, so I got lots of pics of my team, but no finished plated pics.
Your pork looked divine on the plate. I am still having a hard time believing we both only scored 1 point less than the winner, out of 90 possible points.
Congrats, Carlo.Happily egging on my original large BGE since 1996... now the owner of 5 eggs. Call me crazy, everyone else does!
3 Large, 1 Small, 1 well-used Mini -
Jay: Great pics! I was too busy watching the timing watch to get any pictures! :( EVERYbody did SUCH an AMAZING job!!!! Each and every team had SOMEthing going on that I thought 'THAT's the winner'! Seriously, absolutely amazing results all around. The judges were extremely impressed by ALL entries! Four teams within ONE point!?? Talk about a battle! INCREDIBLE!! Hope to see you back up there next year!

Team 4 beat everyone with Grilled Romaine? That is funny. This is the greatest signature EVAR!

Great job everyone...but I do believe Faith's team should have gotten a few extra points for the polka dot aprons & Bill's outfit...LOL :P
:silly: -
Jay, everything looked so good, just wish I could have tasted everything.
It was a blast to cook with Big'un and Pat against such competition.
